This course uses a project based curriculum that teaches digital communication skills in the context of the professional web design and development process using Adobe and other web tools.
The first semester develops skills that lay the foundation for producing web-ready communications. Project activities focus on developing effective communications that can be deployed on the web. Students develop a variety of graphical imagesand an electronic portfolio that includes samles of their work.
The second semester develops further skills by creating RIA's with Flash and Javascript. Students will also be divided into teams to develop professional looking web sites for clients.
The goals of the course are as follows:
- Students will be able demonstrate an understanding of multimedia content creation and authoring.
- Students will be able to operate digital devices to capture still images.
- Students will be able to demonstrate the fundamentals of graphic preparation for the web.
- Students will be able to set up web pages using web authoring tools and HTML code.
- Students will use common web-design tools to create basic web pages and web content.
- Students will be able to organize and upload files to a web server.
